With respect for the lands we work upon.
The National College of Indigenous Scholars is based at the Saskatoon campus of the First Nations University of Canada, on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis. We honour the ancestors who cared for these lands and waters since time immemorial, and we recognize the Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, Lakota, and Métis peoples whose relationships with this land continue today.
NCIS works across many territories and Nations. Wherever our work travels, we commit to learning about the peoples, treaties, and protocols of the lands we visit — and to acting in ways that honour those relationships.
A land acknowledgement is only meaningful when it is accompanied by action. Our commitment is to Indigenous futurities: to research, mentorship, and scholarly excellence that supports Indigenous peoples, knowledge systems, and self-determination.
