On August 26th, the First Nations University (FNUniv) Advisory Circle met virtually to discuss the emerging ideas of what an Indigenous-led faculty development plan could look like. There was support from the group regarding the ideas created by the National Indigenous Scholars Advisory Circle: webinar series, module-based mentorship, and connecting newer scholars to established scholars.
The FNUniv Advisory Circle has identified some priority areas and encouraged the NCIS team to take steps toward development, including continuing discussions with staff at FNUniv. Members shared a desire to connect with other Indigenous scholars outside of FNUniv to see what is working within their institutions to replicate successes. We look forward to advancing the vision and goals of the FNUniv Advisory Circle.
Between both advisory circles, there is a lot to consider, and we are now hard at work trying to help the dreaming/visualizing come to life in a way that supports Indigenous scholars both nationally, and here at FNUniv.
